Why does my device alert twice when messages arrive in my inbox?
Your device may alert twice as new messages arrive in the inbox when both Message Notify is configured to alert as well as the built-in email messaging system alerts. If you have Message Notify configured to alert, it is best to disable the built-in email alerts:
  1. Click Start | Settings | Sounds & Notifications | Notifications.
  2. Select "Messaging: New e-mail message" from the event drop down list
  3. Un-check the "Play Sound" checkbox.
How often does Message Notify check my mail accounts and folders?
Message Notify works by subscribing to the mail-related events that are raised as you use your device. It does not periodically poll your accounts and folders looking for changes, instead, it receives notifications as they happen. You may notice a short delay (about 3 seconds) between an event (for example reading an email) and the update on the Today Screen. This delay is there to consolidate multiple events into one screen update. For example, if you mark 50 messages as read, the Today Screen will only be updated once, instead of 50 times.
Is there a version of Message Notify for Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 Standard (smartphone)?
Unfortunately, no. Message Notify utilizes some APIs only available on the Windows Mobile 6 Professional platform. We are currently evaluating the development of Message Notify for the new Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.
My device uses TouchFlo3D. Will Message Notify work on my device?
If your device is running Windows Mobile 6 Professional, then Message Notify will work; however, it is not compatible with TouchFlo3D. TouchFlo3D is a Today Screen shell written by HTC, which prevents any other Today Screen plug-in from running. Message Notify can run on your device if you deactivate the TouchFlo3D shell. To deactivate TouchFlo3D, Tap Start > Settings > Personal Tab > Today > Items tab, then clear the checkbox next to the TouchFLO 3D item. At that point, you may activate the Message Notify plug-in, and it will display on the Windows Mobile 6 Today Screen.
